What We Believe

Northside Christian School was founded with the unique purpose of teaching students to know, to love, and to serve the Lord Jesus Christ. All of our decisions on philosophy, faculty, cirriculum, student body, and extracirricular activities pass through this filter. Anchored to this foundation, Northside remains a place where Christian students can acquire the skills and the heart to serve the Lord Jesus throughout their lives, no matter what their vocation.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

SCRIPTURE

We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are plenarily and verbally inspired by God and that they are the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and practice. The King James Version of the Bible is the translation used in the school.

THE PERSON OF GOD

We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three Persons — Father Son, and Holy Spirit — having the same attributes and perfections.

GOD THE FATHER

We believe that God the Father is perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, and measureless in power.

JESUS CHRIST

We believe in the absolute Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His incarnation by means of the virgin birth, His sinlessness, and His vicarious death as an atonement for our sin.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person, equal with the Father and the Son and of the same nature, that He is the Agent of the New Birth, and that He indwells every believer.

CREATION

We believe that the Godhead created the heavens (the universe) and the earth, including all life, each after its own species, by direct act and not by a process of evolution. We believe that God created the first two people, Adam and Eve, “male and female created He them.”

SIN

We believe that man, in the person of the first Adam, was created in the image of God in innocence, and that by reason of his voluntary sin he fell from his innocent state; that as a result all human beings are born with a sinful nature.

SALVATION

We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace through faith in the blood sacrifice, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

SANCTIFICATION

We believe that sanctification for the believer is immediate upon acceptance of Christ as Savior, is progressive in the hearts and lives of believers through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, and will be completed when we see Him.

THE CHURCH

We believe that the church exists in two aspects: first, it is an organism and is composed of all true believers in Jesus Christ as Savior; second, it is an organization composed of regenerated believers, voluntarily united for worship, edification, observance of the ordinances, fellowship, and the establishment of Christian education for service.

GOVERNMENT

We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interest and good order of human society; and that htose in authority are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored and obeyed, except only in things opposed to the direct and revealed will of our Lord Jesus Christ.
